My Writing Journey
How my writing journey started and where I am now.

Every time I shared parts of my life story with people, they often said things like "Wow, you should write a book," or "That sounds like a lifetime movie." I have always found writing therapeutic, and I thought it might be good for me to write down my story. Back in 2021, I joined my first writers' workshop and realized I was not yet qualified to write a book, but I definitely wanted to learn more about the process.
Shortly after, I began writing and slowly started putting my life on paper. In the beginning, it felt like every time I opened the file, I was doing more editing than writing, and I stopped opening it altogether. Fast forward to last year, and life was really taking a toll on me. I started journaling about the things going on in my life remembered why I write. I ended the year by making a plan to get back to writing my book to help myself heal, and I signed up for a writer's bootcamp with Hay House. It rekindled my creative writing bug, and I was ready to get serious about finishing this book. I enrolled in a writers' community shortly after, and am really learning a lot about the process.
I am currently writing this post from a hotel in San Francisco, where I will be for the week, focusing on my writing and having some much-needed downtime while my husband is here for work. I am kind of treating it as my own personal writer's retreat and have planned to spend a little of each day writing, reading, and exploring local bookshops for inspiration. I hope to plan a couple more of these trips to help me focus on my writing goals for the year. My goal is to finish my rough draft by my 47th Birthday, which is in December. Looking forward to finishing my book to share with you all, and can't wait to see where this experience takes me.
Here's to writing,
Mandy
